Birds, Bats, and Insects Oh My!

If you’re looking for a God-honoring, biblically-based, user-friendly, non-consumable science series for your K–6th graders, look no further than Apologia’s Young Explorer Series. Exploring Creation with Zoology 1: Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day is a beautiful, hard-back, full-color science curriculum that will take your children (you can use it with multiple ages—another plus) on a thorough study of birds, bats, insects, and more.

With this creationistic curriculum, there’s no need to re-teach the biblical view of creation after reading about how birds evolved from elephants or something equally ridiculous. Children can read the chapters on their own, or you can read them aloud together. Charlotte Mason-type discussion questions are included at the end of each chapter, and notebooking is encouraged. Hands-on activities are an integral part of the learning process, and kits containing everything you need to complete the activities are available from a wide variety of homeschool science supply sites online. Everything can be easily adapted to the ages of your children.

Exploring Creation with Zoology 1: Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day is extremely user-friendly, even for science-phobic moms. Children are naturally curious about the world around them; foster that creativity in a structured, biblical way with Apologia’s Young Explorer Series. Each book is a bargain $35. Science will become the highlight of your homeschool week!
